Dr. McCormick received his B.S. degree from Penn State University in 1974 and his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1978 from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, Pa. He is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa optometric honor fraternity. He is a member of the New York State and American Optometric Associations and is past President of the Central New York Optometric Society. He served as a Commissioned Officer in the US Public Health Service in Anchorage, Alaska, and was in private practice in Virginia Beach, Va. until moving to Central New York in the mid 90’s. He joined Dr. MacDaniel in March 1998. Dr. McCormick specializes in family vision care and contact lenses.
Dr. McCormick is immediate past president of the Central New York Optometric Society and served as Committee Chairman of Troop 51 of the Boy Scouts of America in Fayetteville, NY. He has been a coach in the Youth Soccer Leagues of Norfolk, Virginia and Manlius. He is an active member of the LaFayette chapter of Optimists International. Dr. McCormick resides in Pompey.
Dr. Mary McCarthy is a Syracuse native who started her life on a small farm in Tully, NY. As a young girl, she was moved to and raised in the eastern suburbs, graduating from East Syracuse Minoa High School.
Dr. Mary completed her BS in Biology at LeMoyne College in 1988, graduating Cum Laude. A continuing student, she and her family moved to Bloomington, Indiana where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry at Indiana University in 1992. She then returned to the Syracuse area to start her career.
She joined in practice with Drs. MacDaniel and McCormick in 2007. Dr. Mary is also an employee of the Syracuse Veteran’s Administration Hospital where she instructs optometry interns in the primary eye care clinic and performs low vision exams in the vision rehab clinic. She has worked in many settings, but has found a home at LaFayette Family Optometry.
Dr. McCarthy is a member of the American Optometric Association and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. MacDaniel received his A.S. degree from Auburn Community College in 1972. He received his B.S. and Doctor of Optometry degrees from Pacific University in 1976. He is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, an optometric honor fraternity. He also holds membership in the American and New York Optometric Associations and a past president of the Central New York Optometric Society. He specializes in family vision care and contact lenses.
John is past president of the LaFayette Optimist Club and is a past trustee for the LaFayette library. He served on the Excellence in Education committee for the LaFayette School District, was a member of the Community Council and served as an assistant baseball coach for many years. He and his wife, Joann, divide their time between Stuart, FL and Rockport, ON. John stays active seeing patients in the practice by commuting to the office from Rockport from time to time during the warm seasons and enjoys the pleasures of retirement in Stuart through the winter.
